Overview:

Fractured Fairy Tales and Tall Tales Reader Theater is an interactive and engaging class designed for students in grades 3 through 6 to enhance their reading fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension skills. This course involves students in the dynamic process of reading theater, where they will perform scripts based on well-known fairy tales and tall tales with an imaginative twist.

Objectives:

Reading Fluency: Students will practice and improve their reading fluency through repeated reading and performance.
Vocabulary Expansion: Each week focuses on new and challenging vocabulary words tied to the scripts.

Reading Comprehension: Through performing and discussing the scripts, students will enhance their comprehension of the texts.

Comparative Analysis: Students will compare and contrast the fractured fairy tales with their traditional versions, fostering critical thinking skills.

 
Methodology:

Preparation: Before each class, students will be given a script and assigned a part for the initial performance. Subsequent classes allow for choice in role selection.

Practice: Students will practice their parts throughout the week.

Performance: At the end of each week, students perform their script in class, focusing on expressive reading and character portrayal.

Discussion and Games: After performances, the class will engage in discussions about the challenging words and play vocabulary games.

Comparative Analysis: Each session concludes with a discussion on how the performed tale compares with its traditional counterpart.
