We will only be physically making melt and pour soap as well as two other projects involving pre-made soap (hand soap and castile soap) due to the potential hazard of using lye. If your child wishes to experiment with the other methods of soap making discussed in this course (hot or cold process), please be aware that this will require parental help, supervision, and proper safety precautions and equipment, as lye is extremely dangerous. Additionally, parents should be advised that the projects in weeks 3 and 4 both require microwaving supplies (water and melt and pour base). Parental guidance is advised to avoid burns when microwaving and using hot materials. This class utilizes EdPuzzle, an OutSchool-approved third-party resource. This is to ensure a high level of interaction within the pre-recorded lessons. Links to each video will be posted with weekly lesson materials. Please be advised an account should not be needed to access this resource.
