IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THAT STUDENTS COMPLETE THE FIRST ESCAPE ROOM IN THIS SERIES “CONQUER THE BEDROCK TOWER” BEFORE REGISTERING FOR THIS SECTION. Using your wits and skill you managed to escape from the Bedrock Tower. Now a new challenge awaits you! The Dark Forest stands before you with a single path and a warning: "DO NOT WANDER FROM THE TRAIL". Your only chance to escape and return to your normal life lies beyond these woods. Bravely, you take your first step forward... After a brief time of introduction and review of class expectations, students will work together to solve a variety of puzzles designed to test their problem-solving, math, and literacy skills, all while immersed in a fun scenario revolving around Minecraft. PLEASE NOTE WE WILL NOT BE PLAYING MINECRAFT FOR THIS ESCAPE ROOM ACTIVITY - ALL CONTENT IS DELIVERED THROUGH TEACHER-GENERATED SLIDES. Knowledge of the game is a plus, but not essential to completing the challenge. All students will be given the opportunity to participate. Hints will be delivered if a group finds any of the puzzles too challenging. The goal is to foster a fun and positive environment where learners can work on teamwork and problem-solving skills in an environment that is safe and uplifting.

Hello, my name is Nathan Hoyt. Since 2008, I have been a full-time teacher in the public school system. Now, I am excited to embark on this new journey, stretching beyond the regular classroom and into the engaging world of online learning with Outschool!
For as long as I can remember I have been passionate about literacy. The abilities to read, write and express ourselves effectively are of the utmost importance in basically every situation life can throw our way. It is my deep-rooted desire to meet students where they are at in these skills and try to hone them into even more successful, life-long learners.
I love the opportunity to interact with students in ways that are fun, creative and meaningful. I make it my mission to create a learning environment where all students feel safe, confident, and included. As an educator I never tire of that great feeling of seeing the pride and sense of accomplishment on a young person’s face when they have learned something new and put that learning into action. I would love to be able to share that experience with your students through Outschool!
