We will read 4 chapters a week for 12 weeks. During the last week, students should watch at least one version of the movie and write about the differences between the book and the movie. If you watch 2 different versions, compare them with each other and the book. In our narration journals, we will write summaries of one chapter each week. During our meeting times, students may volunteer to read their narrations, and we will discuss what happened in the story and the story elements we notice in the story, such as setting, character development, plot, tone, theme, conflict, and point of view. We will make predictions and look for figurative language. In our narration journals, we will copy favorite quotes and do some copywork from the story. We will write about a favorite character, a favorite scene, and a lesson learned. Some may want to write an alternate ending. For the artists among us, there will be an opportunity to draw pictures to go with the story. We will look for ways to apply what we learn from this story in our own lives. A copy of the book "Little Women" or access to an audiobook of the unabridged story of "Little Women". I will provide a pdf for each student of the narration journal that is our main workbook for the class.
