Week 1Lesson 1RENDERING CLOTHES - Wrapping Clothes Around BodiesWraparound is a fundamental principle to help students understand how to curve lines with the body to avoid a flat look.Lesson 2RENDERING CLOTHES - Details & FinishesStudents will learn sketching and blending techniques to render drapes and folds, pleats, ruffles, hems and darts, and other construction elements.Lesson 3RENDERING CLOTHES - Patterns & PrintsStudents will learn the basics of illustrating print fabrics using a fairly simple pattern. They will learn how to scale down proportionally and simplify the details.
Students learn to draw step-by-step, understand the core principles, master tools and techniques, compare materials, trust their intuition and vividly express themselves and convey their fashion ideas through sketching and illustrations.
Teacher Angela is a versatile graphic artist who holds a BFA in graphic design from the Rhode Island School of Design. Her expertise extends to various art forms, including still life, landscape, and figure drawing. She is also skilled in fashion, 3D clay design, animation, and photography. Teacher Angela is known for fostering an environment that encourages her students to think beyond conventional boundaries, recognizing the profound impact of creativity on learning and development. Teacher Palm is a professional fashion and costume designer familiar with the complete product creation life cycle from initial concept to constructed design. She holds a degree in Fashion Design from The Parsons School of Design in New York. In addition to over 10 years of teaching art and fashion, she is also experienced in staging collections in numerous international Fashion Shows for luxury clients including Tory Burch, Diane von Furstenberg, Ann Taylor and Kenneth Cole. She gained valuable industry experience in the capacity of Creative Consultant for designers, theaters and art schools. Palm is also proficient in a wide range of fine arts such as watercolor, oil, pencil, pastel, etc. and approaches her teachings with a calm mind, optimism and positive affirmation.
