📖 Welcome to the Fantasy Worlds & Creative Journaling Club! ✨
Step into a world of adventure, where books transport us to enchanted lands, daring quests, and unforgettable characters. In this book club, we’ll dive deep into fantasy stories, exploring what makes them so magical and meaningful. Along the way, we’ll strengthen reading comprehension skills through lively discussions, thoughtful analysis, and creative journaling—a space where imagination and literature collide.

Each session stands on its own, so learners can drop in any time and still enjoy an engaging literary experience!

🔎 What to Expect Each Week
We begin by reading and discussing a passage from a fantasy book, focusing on elements like character development, world-building, and hidden themes. But this isn’t just a sit-and-listen experience—learners will be active participants, sharing ideas, making connections, and looking beyond the words on the page.

As we unravel the story, we’ll explore questions like:
✨ What makes this world feel real, even though it’s imaginary?
✨ How does the hero change throughout their journey?
✨ What clues did the author leave behind that we didn’t notice at first?

Then comes the creative journaling piece—a chance to process the reading in a personal and artistic way. Some weeks, we might write from a character’s perspective, map out the story’s world, or even sketch a magical object described in the book. There’s no pressure to be “perfect”—this is about exploration and expression.

At the end, learners who want to share their creations can do so, but it’s always optional. Whether they prefer writing, doodling, or simply discussing, every learner will find a way to engage that feels right for them.

✍️ Why This Class is Special
This isn’t just a book club—it’s a space where stories come to life. Together, we’ll:
📖 Strengthen reading comprehension by digging deeper into the text.
🗣 Build confidence in analyzing and discussing literature.
🎨 Use creative journaling to connect personally with what we read.
🤝 Foster a supportive environment where every idea is valued.

Fantasy books are more than just make-believe—they teach us about bravery, friendship, and discovering who we truly are. So grab a journal, bring your imagination, and let’s explore these incredible worlds together!

These are just examples—actual book selections may vary: "The Girl Who Drank the Moon" by Kelly Barnhill – A beautifully written fantasy about a young girl raised by a kind witch, filled with magic, adventure, and deep themes of truth and love. "Nevermoor: The Trials of Morrigan Crow" by Jessica Townsend – A whimsical and exciting story about a cursed girl who discovers a magical world and must prove she belongs. "The Hobbit" by J.R.R. Tolkien – A timeless adventure story following Bilbo Baggins on an epic quest, introducing young readers to classic fantasy themes. "Amari and the Night Brothers" by B.B. Alston – A thrilling fantasy with mystery, magic, and a strong, determined protagonist discovering her hidden powers. "The Last Mapmaker" by Christina Soontornvat – A gripping fantasy adventure about exploration, identity, and destiny set in a richly imagined world. 📚 These are just examples of the types of books we may explore. As a certified teacher with experience in grades PreK-12 and specializations in reading instruction, Montessori education, and English as a Second Language (ESL), I am passionate about helping learners develop strong reading comprehension skills while fostering a love for literature. My Science of Teaching Reading certification ensures that I use research-based strategies to help students engage deeply with texts, make meaningful connections, and build critical thinking skills.

Beyond academics, I have a passion for creative journaling, writing, and storytelling, which helps me to guide students in expressing their ideas through both analytical and imaginative responses. My goal is to create an encouraging space where learners feel confident discussing books, sharing interpretations, and exploring their creativity.
