The United States of America is a vast landscape that has grown immensely over the last 250 years. Your student will join us on a historical adventure starting from the tip of northeastern Maine down through the Mid-Atlantic, crisscrossing the Shenandoah River by way of the Appalachian chain. We’ll make a stop in key historical places to appreciate the American story. Next, we’ll move over the Blue Ridge Mountains to the Chesapeake Bay visiting a key Civil War battlefield along the way. After, we’ll take a look at Jamestown, then historical Charleston, and stop off in Florida for a discussion about the climate and observe differences in the physical terrain from where we began to where we are and about some important history.

Moving on, we will go through the Deep South and meander our way from the bayous of Louisiana up and over the Ozarks to visit the midwest. The third part of our journey will take us on the famous Oregon Trail on a fun-filled adventure through what was once brand new territory for early Americans like Meriweather Lewis, William Clark, John C Fremont, and wife Jessie, and we’ll meet the first teacher at the very first school in the new state of California - Miss Olive Isbell. Finally, we’ll end our journey on the US-Mexico border making sure not to miss beautiful Colorado and northern New Mexico for a look at what could be the most beautiful part of the entire country, the Rocky Mountains. Lastly, we’ll fly to Hawaii and Alaska for a quick educational journey to discuss volcanoes, icebergs, and jump over to Puerto Rico, Guam, and the US Virgin Islands to learn they ended up a part of America’s story.

I have been teaching for 10 years in both private and public settings, and I have studied history and geography in college and in my private life and currently teach Language Arts. I have also taught social studies and computer science. I have been to many of the places that we will be visiting, so I have a unique "first-hand" knowledge of a lot of these historical and cultural places of importance.
