Learning to write an essay is crucial for academic success. It helps students organize their ideas, develop critical thinking skills, and communicate effectively. Mastering the structure of a five-paragraph essay prepares learners for both school and professional writing. In this course, students will master the basics of essay writing, focusing on: • Crafting a strong introduction (hook, thesis statement) • Developing body paragraphs with clear topic sentences and supporting details • Writing a compelling conclusion (reaffirming the thesis) Students will choose from three essay prompts and have one week to submit their first draft. After receiving feedback within 24-36 hours, they will have another week to revise and submit the final version. Extensions are available upon request. Body Paragraphs (topic sentence, supporting details, closing/transitional sentence)
Conclusion ("upside-down" introduction)
Students will learn how to construct a basic five paragraph essay.
Students will learn how to develop an outline.
Students will learn the elements of an essay.
