In this multi-day, four week class, we’ll get to know each other, and work on effectively communicating in English. We’ll meet twice a week for four weeks to work on our English skills in a positive and encouraging environment by practicing these skills with our new friends. Class structure: 1. Welcome + Introductions 2. Topic presentation that may include topic song, definition, key vocabulary, pronunciation, questions 3. Active dialogue and practice with classmates 4. Review + practice homework 5. Topic song + Goodbyes *Topics are included in the syllabus All levels of learners are welcome! ESL(English as a Second Language) or early elementary students are welcome. We can all benefit from better communication skills and we can all teach each other. However, it’s best if the learner enjoys free talk and making new friends. We’ll be having lots of conversations and asking each other questions for first hand experience becoming a great English communicator. Come and enjoy a lively and fun English conversation with new friends! Hello! My name is Lindsay Ernst and I love teaching! I'm a wife and mother of 3, former Kindergarten teacher, homeschooling mom for 14yrs, private tutor and former professional photographer. I absolutely love working with children. Teaching is my first love and watching children's eyes light up when they learn new things and excel, brings me great joy!
I have a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Early Childhood Education. Trained in Orton-Gillingham and Speech to Print Linguistic Phonics. For the last 20 years, I have enjoyed teaching children Pre-K to 8th grade in the classroom, at home and as an online tutor. I was also a self taught photographer, running my own business for 14 years.
I specifically use UFLI and S.P.I.R.E. explicit phonics and Reading Simplified speech to print for learners needing reading interventions. I love filling in the gaps and getting children back on track!
Classes are very inclusive to neurodiverse learners. I, myself, am neurodiverse with ADHD and anxiety, and I work hard to be inclusive to the diverse needs of my students. This has allowed me to really connect to many children who may not feel seen or understood. Most of my students are neurodiverse and it's been a joy to encourage and help them reach their goals.
My goal as a teacher, is to instill a love of learning in all the children I meet. My classes are fun, interactive and varied! I hope the children learn many new things and walk away ready to take on the world!
In my free time, I love reading, going on walks, paddle boarding, and most importantly, spending time with my family.
