Hello! Welcome to Ms. Alex’s English Language Arts tutoring for grades 1-8.  

With a master’s degree in creative writing and over two years of tutoring experience, I am deeply committed to sharing my passion for reading and writing with students. My goal is to empower them with the foundational skills needed to excel in every aspect of the English language.

In my tutoring sessions, I cover a comprehensive range of ELA skills, including:

➡️Reading Comprehension: Together we will examine various texts at and above your student’s reading level, and explore purpose, themes, and characters. In doing so, we will develop strong analytical skills and build a foundation for more complex reading down the road.

➡️Writing: Writing doesn’t have to be something to dread! Whether it’s crafting a persuasive essay or a short story, my tutoring sessions will equip your student with the tools to express themselves clearly, and in the process, discover the joy of self-expression.

➡️Grammar and Punctuation: By breaking down complex rules into simple, manageable steps, I will help your student master the rules of grammar and punctuation and ensure a strong foundation for all their written communication.

➡️Vocabulary Building: We’ll enhance your student’s vocabulary with engaging activities and context-based exercises, boosting their ability to articulate ideas clearly and effectively.

➡️Spelling: By using targeted practice, pattern recognition, and consistent reinforcement, I will work with your students to improve their accuracy and confidence in spelling.

My past tutoring experience has taught me how to tailor my instruction on a student-to-student basis. Each brain takes in new information differently, and it’s my job to see that each student receives the support and strategies that align with their individual learning styles. Above all else, I work hard to create a safe and positive environment where students feel comfortable to try new things.
