このクラスで学べること
In this class we will continue building on the basics of Minecraft's most engineered feature: REDSTONE! We'll apply the vocabulary of it's different components (redstone dust, torches, repeaters, comparators, observers, etc.) and each of their functions. By the end of the class, we will have used every item in the redstone directory in Minecraft and combine them together to make things that are automatized, useful, and FUN in game play. Each class I will show a common example of how a redstone contraption works, focusing on the new component of redstone that it relies on. After I show how it's built, students will make their own version. Then, I challenge them to make adjustments or decorate it so it fits nicely in their growing base full of neat redstone designs. Class 1: Logic gates. What are they and how can they be applied in the game? This is a basic aspect to engineering that students will learn to apply in fun, inventive ways. Class 2: T-flip flops. What if you want to create a door that has two ways to open it, one from inside and outside of the room? Class 3: Command blocks. What are some basic commands that will have students simplifying their game play, and level up their game design in creative mode? Class 4: Double piston extenders. Do you want to make a "flush" piston door that is completely concealed or hidden against a wall? Let's learn all of the ways you can use multiple pistons, honey blocks, and slime blocks to create some fun devices. Class 5: Advanced farming techniques (water flow, collection systems, rail systems). What do most farms have in common, and how can we use these concepts to build simple to more complicated farm designs in the game. Class 6: Putting it all together. Students will go through an obstacle course of broken redstone contraptions and use their new knowledge to "fix" them. Then they will compete to recreate old redstone inventions and improve them with their refined expertise!

教師の専門知識と資格
I am a teacher who combines my love of video games and fictional stories with subjects like personal development, history, psychology, and anthropology, and writing. I want to stimulate learning within the environments students find themselves most engaged, whether they be in virtual worlds or ones in their imagination!
I have 6 years of teaching experience with 18 year-old English-learners and children ages 7-13. I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology from Clemson University and use this degree to help students reflect on others' perspectives. My philosophy of teaching ensures students hit every spot in the learning cycle. When my students grapple with new concepts, they will reflect on the connections these concepts have to their personal lives, and actively experiment with these concepts in activities that rely on teamwork, problem solving, and promote creativity. Creativity is my bread and butter. It is my personal wish to have every student ignite their love of learning by creating something they can proudly show off to parents and friends.
Besides being a fan of video games like World of Warcraft and Skyrim, I love movies, reading, hiking and listening to podcasts, practicing self-defense (Krav Maga), and dancing to electronic music. I have lived abroad and travelled to over 10 countries, and enjoy studying other cultures and ways of living.
