Welcome to sixth-grade English Language Arts! This course contains a variety of activities and is based on Wonders 6th Grade Units 1 - 6, Weeks 1 - 5. Each class will cover: Weekly Concept Daily Concept Vocabulary Word and Definition Task Cards (can be used for spelling at home) Reading Leveled Comprehension Questions Text Analysis Grammar Tasks Each unit will be followed by a writing workshop where students will first review/refresh paragraph writing, and will move on to learn the process, parts, and different types of essays. There will be an extensive workshop on research essays. The last 5 classes of the course will practice the very important skill of note-taking. Optional homework will be provided as requested. Students are welcome to enroll late as each lesson will be self-contained except the essay writing. We will work with your child to get them caught up with essay writing should they join in the middle of an essay. However, they will not need to "catch up" if they enroll late at any other time.
