このクラスで学べること
In this course, students will create a "toolbox" of techniques to use when studying a foreign language. These tools can be used for any foreign language a student wishes to learn. Most specific examples will be given in Spanish as that is my main other language; however, a few examples from other languages will be used as well. Students will learn techniques to help them "end forgetting" and they will practice training their ears to hear and understand a new language with new sounds. They will learn how to set effective goals for themselves and techniques to help them memorize vocabulary more quickly. A general syllabus can be seen below. Class time will be spent learning new techniques and practicing them. Their homework and study time will be specific to them and the language they wish to learn.

Week 1-How Memory Works, Recalling vs Reviewing, Using SRS (Spaced Repetition System)
Week 2- Learning Pronunciation, Training Your Ears and Mouth, Using Laziness to Study
Week 3- Most Frequent Words in a Language, Games with Words, Using Music to Learn
Week 4- Comprehensible Input, Simplifying Sentences, Mnemonics, Creating Sentences, Listening Comprehension
Throughout all weeks, we will work on making a study plan that helps them best.その他の情報

My name is Laurel, and I have a passion for learning. I love making learning fun for children and engaging them in the material.
I have worked with children ages three to eighteen, teaching both English and Spanish. I learned Spanish through immersion while I lived in Costa Rica and Nicaragua. My husband is from Nicaragua, and meeting him was the reason I became interested in learning another language. Now, I speak Spanish fluently and am working on mastering my fourth and fifth languages. Learning various languages has given me insight on the best and most effective ways to learn and begin speaking from the beginning.
