Students will be able to:
-Describe the study of economics. 
-Define economics and differentiate between micro and macro. 
-Explain the concepts of scarcity, incentives, and opportunity cost, and how each impacts businesses, governments, and households. 
-Name and describe different economic systems.
-Reflect of the effect of a market economy.
-Examine how a public policy impacts groups differently.
-Review different economic systems and different theories of government's role in the economy.
-Define monetary and fiscal policy.
-Understand the role of taxation in the economy and identify the different types of taxes.
-Evaluate the impact of trade agreements.
-Explore spending, budgeting, and inventing in regards to personal financial decisions.
I am a certified social studies teacher with over a decade of experience working with learners.  I am certified in Missouri and Indiana to teach grades 5-12 social science/social studies subjects, including: American History, Geography, Government/Civics, Economics, Sociology, Psychology, and World History. 
I focus on individualizing lessons to meet the needs of learners, including those who are struggling and/or students who need more challenge.  I have a BA in Political Science, a MA in Secondary Education, and an Ed Spec degree in Educational Technology.  I use technologies in effective and creative ways to enhance the learning process and increase motivation of learners.

As mentioned in the class description, several asynchronous (outside of class) learning opportunities will be suggested to help with review, gaining depth-of-knowledge, or for additional challenge. No learner should feel stressed about any aspect of this class, and I would never expect a learner to feel like they need to complete all of the suggested activities.

Multiple formative assessments will be implemented and I will provide positive and supportive feedback. Any learner requesting a grade for the class should communicate this expectation as soon as possible.

I will supply all of the materials required for this class.  

As an extended and completely optional part of the course- I recommend incorporating the book 'Freakonomics Revised and Expanded Edition' by Steven Levitt, 2020.  A few (but not all) of the chapters will be included in the suggested/optional asynchronous activities, to allow learners to explore the economic concepts that we're discussing in unique and interesting ways!  This book is listed on Amazon (as new) for around $13.  A free link to a digital version of this resource will be included.
