I like to think of my lessons as "music based".  We will do some basic technique and co-ordination exercises, but I like to students to play with music as much as possible. Developing a learners ear for music is just as important as drum technique. Of course all of the lessons are written in proper music notation, so we're learning that as we go too.  For intermediate and advanced learners the technical skill development does ramp up, but the direction can be guided by the learners interests.  Examples of this can be:pop/rock, jazz & latin, Hi-hop, funk, etc.  For percussionists: we can do beginner school band tutoring, orchestra training, even 4-mallet technique for marching band or drum corps "front ensemble" percussionists.  I have successfully prepared many students for College and University auditions.
