このクラスで学べること

My classes are about the encouragement and sharing of artistic freedom. I never box young artists in and expect them to duplicate an art style. They will have the opportunity to learn about different art styles and and techniques through hands-on and verbal interaction with Teacher Lisa but they are free to take this information and interpret it as they choose. All class subject matter is supported with visual imagery (already previewed by the teacher and deemed appropriate to show as examples for students.) A brief history of subject matter is shared along with video imagery and information through YouTube videos preselected and viewed by the teacher. Once we begin to create the teacher will share the art process via an overhead camera used for art instruction. Depending on the daily theme, the teacher will choose instrumental music that is soothing and inspiring to the students as they draw, design and create. 5-10 Minutes before class is over we will each share our artwork. Students are encouraged to share and talk about the inspiration behind their art piece. Each class will allow the students the option of creating a 2D dimensional design or build a 3D design using the theme for that day.

Monday's Class: We will begin the week with Fantasy Art; imaginary creatures such as dragons, hobbits, unicorns, fairies etc.. We will look at images of popular imaginary art created for books and movies. Students will be enlisted to create their own imaginary creature/ character and place them inside their own natural setting. YouTube reference material will be utilized to help inspire ideas.

Tuesday Class: Art with a Tangle: The theme is "SPRING" We will learn a doodle art form also called Zentangle Art. Art that begins with lines, shapes, repetitive patterns and designs. Combining these collaged techniques can make the most interesting art pieces. We will use YouTube to view other artists renditions and imagery to inspire ideas.

Wednesday Class: Graffiti Art: Students will learn a brief history of a once taboo art form but one that has transcended public scrutiny and is now a well respected art form. Students will learn how to use letters, images, shapes, patterns and color to create our own art wall. We will look at other child friendly art from todays Graffiti artists. Our visual sources will always be through google images and YouTube Video as well as hands on demonstration from the teacher.

Thursday Class: Kawaii Character Art: We will look at the Japanese style Kawaii Art. Students will create their own Kawaii Art designs and bring them to life through their own imagination. We will review other artists renditions on YouTube as well as still images. The teacher will also show art samples she has created.

Friday Class: AFRICAN MASK: We are traveling to the continent of Africa. Students will learn interesting facts about the continent itself and the amazing African Art that enriches the world. Students will experience African instrumental music from YouTube while drawing and designing their own masks . (See supplies list for materials needed.)

All class Subject Matter and Themes are subject to change or be amended. I love surprising my young artists by challenging their creativity. I like to make this class an experience of creativity, art, laughter and fun!

I will be using YouTube Videos and Canva for art style references when applicable to the assignment. These features will be used via Third Party Sharing available in the Zoom classroom. There will be no accounts needed by the parent.
受講に必要なもの
I recommend good quality, (sturdy) white drawing (art) paper or card stock. (Please No Notebook Paper). Drawing Pads are available in the art section at Wal Mart, Michaels, Target or online at Amazon.com. Students need at least 2-3 sharpened pencils and a good eraser. Good quality thin point black markers, medium and wide. I use Papermate Flair Medium black markers. I also use the (Fine Point) and (Chisel Tip) Permanent Black Sharpies. All of the supplies I use are reasonably priced. Each artist should have a good set of colored markers and colored pencils.
Crayola SuperTips and Crayola colored pencils are cheaper in price. I highly recommend Crayola SuperTips also for beginners.
I use two more professional brands such as SOUCOLOR and CALIART markers, both very reasonably priced. All of these materials can be ordered online on Amazon.com or Walmart.com.
If your young artist wants to paint they are certainly welcome to do so. In Friday's class we are making masks. Students should have white paper plates (full-sized). . If they choose to make their masks out of something else that's even better.
It's always a good idea for young artists to keep a Scrap Material Box. I keep scrap paper items, product labels, paper towel holders, toilet paper rolls, magazines, beads, scrap material, string and other craft odds and ends. Glue, scissors, tape, a good working stapler can come in handy. Colored construction paper is also very handy.
I don't advise a hot glue gun unless the parent is right there to supervise. Many and most of my scrap materials I have are random things I collected from around the house.
I find myself feeling freer to create when I have a variety of "stuff" to choose from.
