My classes are about the encouragement and sharing of artistic freedom. I never box young artists in and expect them to duplicate an art style. They will have the opportunity to learn about different art styles and and techniques through hands-on and verbal interaction with Teacher Lisa but they are free to take this information and interpret it as they choose. All class subject matter is supported with visual imagery (already previewed by the teacher and deemed appropriate to show as...
I have been an Arts Educator for over 30 years. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Art from the Columbus College of Art and Design. I am also a working professional Artist/Illustrator and Content Creator. I love teaching Art and doing Art with young artists.
I recommend good quality, (sturdy) white drawing (art) paper or card stock. (Please No Notebook Paper). Drawing Pads are available in the art section at Wal Mart, Michaels, Target or online at Amazon.com. Students need at least 2-3 sharpened pencils and a good eraser. Good quality thin point black markers, medium and wide. I use Papermate Flair Medium black markers. I also use the (Fine Point) and (Chisel Tip) Permanent Black Sharpies. All of the supplies I use are reasonably priced. Each artist should have a good set of colored markers and colored pencils. Crayola SuperTips and Crayola colored pencils are cheaper in price. I highly recommend Crayola SuperTips also for beginners. I use two more professional brands such as SOUCOLOR and CALIART markers, both very reasonably priced. All of these materials can be ordered online on Amazon.com or Walmart.com. If your young artist wants to paint they are certainly welcome to do so. In Friday's class we are making masks. Students should have white paper plates (full-sized). . If they choose to make their masks out of something else that's even better. It's always a good idea for young artists to keep a Scrap Material Box. I keep scrap paper items, product labels, paper towel holders, toilet paper rolls, magazines, beads, scrap material, string and other craft odds and ends. Glue, scissors, tape, a good working stapler can come in handy. Colored construction paper is also very handy. I don't advise a hot glue gun unless the parent is right there to supervise. Many and most of my scrap materials I have are random things I collected from around the house. I find myself feeling freer to create when I have a variety of "stuff" to choose from.
I will be using YouTube Videos and Canva for art style references when applicable to the assignment. These features will be used via Third Party Sharing available in the Zoom classroom. There will be no accounts needed by the parent.
