米国の学年 3 - 6
Intermediate レベル向け
10 lessons//10 Weeks
 Week 1
Lesson 1
Issues with Art
To kick off this course we start with a group discussion about common art struggles and how to avoid the "Tortured Artist" mentality. I challenge this mindset through drawing activities designed to break unhealthy ways of thinking about art.
 Week 2
Lesson 2
Light & Shadows
In our second class we will break open our sepia pencils and create form through the study of light. I'll teach students to use a variety of shading techniques to capture still life.
 Week 3
Lesson 3
Seeing Colors
Next we dive into color theory and how to make colors sing! I'll cover how to use a color wheel and what the different color combinations mean to an illustration. Students will create their own color pairings to see which ones work and why.
 Week 4
Lesson 4
Composition
In this class we look into the mathematical side of composition and why certain angles are satisfying while others make us feel anxious. These are professional techniques and terms used to create a spectrum of emotions, whether in illustrations or in movies, and students will become familiar with all of them!
 Week 5
Lesson 5
Practical Perspective
This week students will get the opportunity to learn interior design tricks by using perspective! We'll design dream rooms and fill them with furniture to each student's individual interests.
 Week 6
Lesson 6
3 Point Perspective
For this lesson students will dive into epic perspective shots used to create the cities that a superhero could swing through or what a house would look like to their tiny pet! We'll also break down what more abstract perspective angles look like.
 Week 7
Lesson 7
Gesture Drawing
We leap back in time to one of the most tried and true methods of drawing: charcoal on newsprint! I teach students how to quickly capture life and form using some messy art activities.
 Week 8
Lesson 8
Action Figure Drawing
Let's make boring poses cool! In this lesson I'll teach students how to add emotion and feeling to their character poses to make them more dynamic! We'll cover action lines, stick figures, and anatomy.
 Week 9
Lesson 9
Handy Cheats
In our second-to-last class together, we cover one of the hardest subjects to draw: the human hand! In this lesson I offer an assortment of methods for drawing a variety of hand poses to ensure that every student leaves feeling more confident when approaching this daunting task.
 Week 10
Lesson 10
Last Class Party!
In our final class together I give your children a "Pop Quiz" which is really my fun way of celebrating all of their hard work this session. It entails watching clips from their favorite animations and getting a chance to show off the art chops they learned in my course through some fun art challenges!
Students will be introduced to the next level of drawing techniques and can build on what was learned in Drawing 1. We begin with discussing common art struggles and how to navigate them to become a healthy, well-rounded artist, and continue through the course to advance their art skills to begin building their art portfolio.

The overarching goal of these lessons is to familiarize students with new art mediums, teach them techniques to live a balanced artistic life, and to hone their skills which they can then incorporate into any art field.
I've been an artist my entire life, honing my skills through art school and into working in the animation industry on a variety of animated shows. I've also led art therapy workshops for young children, teens, and adults. I believe the arts are a very powerful and personal endeavor and am skilled at using it as a vehicle for not only professional growth, but personal growth as well.
宿題が提供されます
I call my homework "follow-up activities" because they are NOT mandatory. I offer a follow-up activity after each class for those students who would like to practice further what we learned in class that day. These activities also give ample opportunities for students to earn my star student awards and grow as artists.
授業以外に週あたり 0 - 1 時間の学習が期待されます
評価が提供されます
I give time at the end of each class for students to present their work as part of our weekly "art critique." This is for me to see where the students are at on their artistic journey, as well as get them comfortable with sharing their work with their peers and offer tips and tricks to each other. I never force students to share their work out of respect, but have found that with this gentle approach most students come around to it when they feel comfortable and after seeing how much fun the other students have doing it.
成績が提供されます
A sketchbook or loose paper, pencils, a few paper towels, a ruler, colored pencils, tracing paper ($10), vine charcoal ($10), newsprint pad ($10), and a brown, white, and black charcoal pencil pack ($10).
