このクラスで学べること
This class will introduce students to some strategies for drawing their characters into real 3D spaces. This is a critical skill for any artist who is serious about telling a story through visuals in the form of comics, manga, webtoons, animation, or video games. Week 1: Introduction to Perspective and how to Draw flatly designed characters into 3 dimensional forms. Week 2: Easy ways to draw multiple characters into a 1 Point Perspective environment with appropriate proportions. Week 3: How to draw interior spaces and exterior spaces in 2 Point Perspective. I will also introduce the more advanced concept of 3 point perspective and wide angle fisheye lens effects. Students will be provided a multitude of visual examples in various animation styles. I will also provide differentiated step by step tutorials at different skill levels to accommodate both those totally new to drawing in 3D, and those with far more advanced skills.

I will show a lot of background art and environment design drawings through screen sharing, but they slideshows will also be provided through google slides for future reference.

At the very least students will need pencils, eraser, and computer paper. Ideally they would also have a straight edge like a ruler (clear plastic is best) or protractor and big white paper (big sketchbook or white poster/paper.

My name is Shaun D. McMillan. I teach creative art classes and classes on how to start a business. I graduated with a degree in Animation in the city of Los Angeles, California and have worked as a professional animator, graphic designer, web designer, and game artist at various studios. In 2012 I became a high school teacher teaching various different computer art courses including Graphic Design and Game Design classes for a total of seven years. After realizing the potential of Game Based Learning I worked together with my high school students to create multiple political science simulations and educational games, including, “ALLIANCE The Ultimate World Leader Political Science Simulation Megagame,” in which 72 participants are given 4 hours to solve a simulation of all the world’s geopolitical problems.
