このクラスで学べること

This 4-week course is perfect for tiny fingers. We'll get familiar with the keyboard and earn about the proper posture.
We'll focus on the coordination of the left and right hands, independence of the fingers, early music reading skills, rhythm, tempo, and dynamics. We'll also build musicianship by learning how to listen and appreciate others in a small group setting.

Week 1:
learning about fingers, black keys on the keyboard, 2 black keys song with quarter notes
Week 2:
3 black keys song with quarter notes
Week 3:
3 black keys song - with quarter and half notes,  loud and soft
Week 4:
2 and 3 black keys - Old MacDonald had a farm - quarter, half, and whole notes

Class flow:
Greeting - Hello Song with a steady beat
Musical games: Finger exercises game / Rhythm practice game / Finding keys game
Learning new songs (teacher will teach the students in a call and response manner, break down the song into small phrases and encourage each student to take turns playing)
Sharing and appreciation time (take turns playing the songs from the previous week)
Goodbye song

Students will learn how to play songs with the black keys, build independence of the fingers and improve coordination of left and right hands. This course will cover early note reading and rhythm, as well as develop musicianship by learning how to listen and appreciate.

受講に必要なもの

Children will need to have access to a piano or keyboard. Please set up the camera on the side facing the child and the keys on the piano so the teacher can see. Please also print out the provided music scores before class.

Hello families, my name is Karen, children usually call me Ms Karen. I have been teaching Math and Music for more than 15 years. 
I have a HBSc., double majored in Pure Mathematics and Music from the University of Toronto, and a Master of Science in Actuarial Science.  Throughout my teaching experiences, I mastered the skill of teaching the world-renowned Singapore Math and incorporated it into math games to make Math classes as fun as possible!
As an amateur musician, I have been performing and playing in rock and pop bands since high school! I have a classical and pop/rock music background (G10 Piano Royal Conservatory of Music and Professional diploma in Vocal Styles from Berklee).
I also have experience in teaching piano, singing, and music & movement in private settings and music centres. 

Some research finds that music can enhance mathematical skills because Music targets one specific area of the brain to stimulate the use of spatial-temporal reasoning, which is useful in mathematics. I hope my knowledge and teaching experiences in both subjects will bring your child the joy of learning and the beauty of the connection between Math and Music.
