このクラスで学べること
In this intensive writing class, we will practice using the writing process and other writing strategies to think more strategically about writing. Students will create a five-paragraph, one-page story throughout this five-day class. They will be expected to work through the writing process in and out of class and will be able to work at their own pace. The goal is to share our stories and then look at some strategies and tips to improve our writing. I like a supportive atmosphere where students can share with excitement and enthusiasm for their work. I encourage students to share their own work as well as encourage the work of others. There will be a small amount of direct instruction, with an emphasis on guided practice. Topics Class 1: Outline Class 2: Write Class 3: Revise Class 4: Edit Class 5: Share!

Students will need access to a device on which they can type and upload their stories. They can also use a pencil and paper in class for notes/rough drafts.

I have a bachelor's degree in elementary education and a Master of Education. I taught 7 years in the brick and mortar classroom, and during those years did a detailed study on writing portfolios and how continued use of the writing process improves writing for middle school students. I then taught this self-made class for two years on Outschool before taking an extended maternity leave.
