Students will explore the 5 skills of early literacy:

Reading (listening and responding to a story)
Writing (creating a fingerpaint craft)
Singing (music and movement)
Playing (animating their stuffed animal dragon/dinosaur friends, acting out parts of the story)
Talking (introducing themselves and their dragon/dinosaur friends, and sharing their ideas throughout the session)

Students will respond and reflect on their experience sharing their thoughts and feelings.

Students are encouraged to extend the learning outside of the scheduled session by preparing for the session (gather dragon/dinosaur toys, choose and wear their own outfit for a party, help family enjoy a meal of tacos and share what they learned/did outside of the session)

Prepare for the session:
Attend the session dressed for a party
Gather favorite stuffed animal friends (Dragons or dinosaurs suggested, but any stuffed animal friend is welcome. Students will likely have time to introduce only 1-3 friends)

Reflect and share after the session:
Show the artwork and describe it to a family member
Tell a family member about the session
Make tacos with family members

Miss Rachel loves making connections with each individual child and encouraging engagement at each learners level. Assessment is observed through the session, as well as any additional sessions the learner attends.
