このクラスで学べること
Each Week's Lesson will feature the following: Week 1 will include 2 Educational Videos to prepare learners for the rest of the course. Weeks 2 - 8 will feature 1 Educational Video on Nutrition, and 1 Learning Lab Video teaching students how to make the recipe for the week. The recipe for the week will correlate with the nutrition principles learned in the educational video. Several Weeks will have additional Bonus Videos and Recipes to add to the learning experience. A grocery list will be supplied with each week for the following week - so the learner can adequately prepare for the Learning Lab. (The grocery list for week 2 is provided during week 1, etc). See syllabus for the Nutrition Topics and Recipes.

Introduction to Basic Nutrition & Food Safety
This lesson will include 2 short video presentations including Basic Nutrition: The 6 Categories of Nutrients, and Food Safety and Sanitation: Keeping our Kitchen and Food Healthy.
レッスン 2:
Food Preparation: Finding Fun in the Process.
This lesson will include 1 Video presentation of Safety with Knife Skills, and 1 Video presentation / Learning Lab to include Slicing, Chopping, Dicing, and Mincing Techniques. We will prep Potatoes, Carrots, Celery, and Onion for our first recipe: Potato Soup. We will prepare a Mirepoix and Roux.

The Truth about Carbohydrates: What Everyone Should Know!
This lesson will include 1 Video presentation about Carbohydrates, the uses and functions within the body, and food choices. We will learn the difference between complex and simple carbs.
Learning Lab / Video 2: Recipes: Couscous & Quinoa.
Bonus Learning Lab / Video: Chocolate Chip Cookies and Healthier Variations.

Get the Skinny and Dietary Fat: The Good, The Bad and The Beautiful.
This lesson will include 1 Video presentation about The Functions of Fats - and the difference between Saturated and Unsaturated Fats and Cholesterol.
Learning Lab / Video 3: Recipes: Hummus & Guacamole.

Learners should be able to use a knife and cutting board with small fruits and vegetables, and operate a stove top and oven. Parental supervision is highly suggested.

Each week - a grocery list will be provided for the following week. Basic kitchen tools will be required, but nothing that you should have to purchase if you have a moderately well-stocked kitchen.

I will not be using a textbook - but will provide lesson slides each week, a grocery list for the upcoming week, and written recipes for the course. I will also include a video tutorial for all the recipes so the learner can do the project while watching the instruction.
