Is your student struggling to count coins the traditional way? This hands-on class will use a touch dot method to count coins up to $1.00. This class is perfect for students who struggle with grouping coins to count or need a hands-on approach to counting coins. Students will review US coins and their value, then learn how to count coins using touch dots. This easy method assigns each coin a specific amount of dots used for counting. Students will practice counting a variety of US coins and create their own coin combinations. Students find this method much easier than the traditional grouping of coins and counting. Students must already know how to count by 5's up to 100 for this method.

There are 2 worksheets that will need to be printed so we can fill them out in class for practice and for reference later. If possible bring US coins (pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters) for students to make their own problems to count at the end of class if time permits.

My expertise is in math, science, and language arts for 2nd-5th grade. I had the privilege of working as a reading intervention specialist for PreK-5th grade students where I diagnosed reading difficulties and instructed students in small groups to master skills. In addition to teaching elementary-age students, I am certified in College Counseling, where I hope to use my knowledge to help students of all ages love learning and see their dreams become a reality.
I believe learning should be fun and engaging. I teach with a hands-on approach so that students stay engaged through creative activities and games. I believe every child can learn and it is my job to find out the best way to teach them.
