Take $20 off your first class by using this code: Bys4zByL As a classroom teacher for 27 years, as well as an Outschool teacher for the last three years, I have noticed that many children do not know how to join in conversation. Some are quiet, some want to talk but don't know what to say, and others are self-conscious. This class gives everyone an opportunity to speak as well as listen. In this ongoing small group speaking and social class, learners will be encouraged to participate in discussion of every day topics in order to increase their confidence in expressing their opinions, speaking with detail, thinking logically, and learning how to include themselves in conversation. They will also practice important conversational skills such as waiting for their turn, listening to others and staying on topic. Simple topics such as animals, sports, and food will help children feel comfortable. We will also discuss how to give simple directions and practice story telling with and without pictures, ask questions clearly, giving a book report, movie review or book review, making a simple commercial, and joining a group conversation. Many of the ideas for class discussions come directly from the learners. We will also include share time at the end of each class where children may tell about something that interests them personally. Teaching children to effectively communicate is a skill that will benefit them for a lifetime.

Hi there! Miss Cindy here! I'm excited to take you into the world of learning, whether that is for an academic subject, such as math, reading, writing or tutoring or a social class which includes public speaking or social interaction.
TYPICAL CLASS ROUTINE:
Greeting/Get to know you time
Class time, including teaching of given topic and practice of that skill
Closing which may include a puppet, a game, or show and tell, depending on the type of class your learner is taking. My goal is to have every child smiling and excited to return to the next class!
