総合数学 - 最も重要な数学の概念 2

This second class continues where the first class left off. We will continue learning the concepts that are required to do well in math now and in the future. 

I will demonstrate:
1. Decimals - terminating decimals (limited number of digits), repeating patterns endlessly, trailing zeros, placeholder zeros, rounding down, rounding up. 
2. Multiplying decimals - performing multiplication like for whole numbers, counting numbers to the right of the decimal point in each factor, and adding the results, placing the decimal point in the answer so that it has the same number of digits after the decimal points.
3. Dividing decimals - moving the decimal point in the divisor and dividend, placing the decimal point in the quotient, dividing as usual but taking special not to line the quotient properly.
4. Changing decimals to fractions - creating a 'fraction' with the decimal in the numerator and 1.0 in the denominator, moving the decimal point in the numerator enough places to the right, dropping the decimal points, and reducing if necessary.
5. Changing fractions to decimals - dividing the numerator by denominator, terminating decimals, repeating decimals, calculations involved. 
6. Percentages - means out of 100, decimal points, changing a decimal to a percent, common conversions, changing a percent to a fraction, converting fractions to percents, the percent circle.
7. Scientific notation - powers of ten (standard notation and exponential notation), negative powers of ten, multiplication and powers of ten, division and powers of ten, how to write any number in scientific notation, multiplying and dividing numbers in scientific notation.
8. Units of measurement - conversion rules, large unit to small unit, small unit to large unit, reasonability tests, metric system, converting between English and metric units. 

As a prerequisite, users will need to complete Comprehensive Math - The Most Important Math Concepts.

We will work on several exercises and learners will be presented with a few more exercises, including a daily challenge (for extra credit). 

Progress will be evaluated through short quizzes at the end of each week and then a comprehensive short test close to the end of the course.
