Our body is always working hard to make sure that we are able to survive the way we do. In this twelve-lesson course, we will be looking at six body systems in detail and then investigating these body systems in other animals. The course is broken down into six units: Unit One - The Respiratory System (Class 1-2) In this unit, students will learn about the respiratory system in humans and then compare it to the respiratory systems of a variety of other animals. Students will learn: 1) The digestive system, respiratory system, circulatory system, nervous system, musculoskeletal system, and integumentary systems in humans. 2) Touch on some diseases and disorders of each of the above systems and what happens in the body to cause them (ex. asthma attack, lactose intolerance etc.) 3) Elements of the above systems in other animals. (*Due to the immense variety of animal body systems, we will touch on as many elements as we can within the time frame)
I have a Bachelor of Science with a major in Zoology and have worked in the animal field for almost 10 years. In addition, I have a teaching degree and have been a biology teacher for 5 years. I have a strong passion for animals and believe I can make this topic fun and exciting for students who are just as passionate and interested!
