In this class, learners will explore the principals of scientific illustration, what it is, and how artists use science to create art. Each week we will be exploring unique marine creatures from a scientific point of view, then use our art skills to put our observations down on paper. I am a classroom teacher with a masters in education, and have been a private art tutor for the past 6 years. I am an artist and participate in several art shows each year around the DC Metro area. I have worked with several National Geographic scientific illustrators, and have loved incorporating nature into my art. I grew up in Florida where spend my time scuba diving and leading kayak tours in the Indian River. I love nature, and I love art! Most weekends you can find me and my wife either bird watching or drawing.
-pencil, pen, and eraser -paper (any size above 5x8in) -coloring tools (crayons, markers, or colored pencils)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
