このクラスで学べること
This class will be set-up as a lecture/Q&A session. I will discuss how to determine whether college is the best fit for each individual, as opposed to the other options out there (i.e. pre-professional programs/trainee positions). I will then dive into the differences between a college/university and conservatory, majoring versus minoring in dance, resources for researching schools and programs, and how to audition and apply. Having navigated the college dance world as a recent graduate and soon to be master's student at NYU, I will share personal experiences and I how I perceived different programs after many visits and auditions. I will then provide insight on how to chose the right program and things that you can expect when making this transition. My knowledge is both experiential and heavily research based. I hope to help answer questions and pave a clearer path for high school students thinking about the future. In my opinion, it's never too early!

教師の専門知識と資格
Hello! My name is Kristen. I just graduated from Mercyhurst University with a B.F.A in Dance with minors in Psychology and Dance Pedagogy. During my time there, I was a campus ambassador, served in many leadership roles, taught dance classes to non-dance majors, completed a teaching independent study, and arts administration internship with a nationally recognized ballet company, to name a few. My work experiences are diverse and include things such as being a resident assistant for summer dance programs, a waitress, PCA, and teacher/mentor for an adaptive dance program. I am always eager to continue learning and improving myself. I recently completed my masters in Dance Education at New York University and am currently dancing as a trainee with The Ballet Theatre of Maryland! Kristen Faraclas is an ABT® Certified Teacher, who has successfully completed the ABT® Teacher Training Intensive in Pre-Primary through Level 7 & Partnering.
My main focus when teaching is to ensure a positive and encouraging classroom setting that is accessible and welcoming to all. My goal is to provide a both physically and mentally challenging class without exceeding the capabilities of the students. I aspire to not only teach the proper execution of dance technique, but to also inspire my students and help nurture their passions. I am so fortunate to have had so many wonderful and amazing teachers over the years whom I could learn from, and I hope to be able to further share and pass this along as they have done for me.
I would like to best be able to fit the needs of my students. Therefore, I encourage you to message me with any questions, comments, or requests you may have! I would also appreciate reviews and sharing my classes with family and friends. I wish you all the best health and safety during these times, and am both very grateful and excited to be teaching young students on this platform!
