In this self-paced class students learn all about animal coloration and the vocabulary that goes with it. They are introduced to real world examples of each and they model with clay for every lesson. Students will learn fun facts about several animal species and learn how to identify lizards with a dichotomous key! I do not teach with slideshow lectures. For every lesson (three lessons total) I show animal models and then use clay to reinforce concepts. Video lessons are each between 6-9 minutes in length. Please see supply list for required materials (most of which your child already has or can be easily made.) Students will learn about mimicry and a specific example of batesian mimicry in snakes. I demonstrate how to make a snake of clay with a banded pattern. レッスン 2:
Cryptic coloration
In this lesson students learn about chameleons & other lizards. They will create a lizard of their own and learn to use a dichotomous key, too! レッスン 3:

I teach many other engaging zoology classes on outschool! Before I became a teacher, I worked with wildlife, in a microbiology lab, and also in animal welfare. I have always been called to work with children and have volunteered at girl scout camps, zoo camps and children's hospitals. As a teacher on Outschool I am committed to bringing visual and tangible content to the classroom. I believe teaching is more than just a lecture.
