このクラスで学べること

This class is for reading only.  You can provide the reading material or I will be providing reading materials for your child to read. This could be for beginner or intermediate students. 
Topics: varies- greetings, fruits, family members, based on your child's mandarin level
class structure: One day is spent on learning to read a song lyric, the other day is to read a passage
teaching style: the child will read through stories, passages, or texts. I will listen and provide feedback in regards to pronunciation or review context with them to help them understand the meaning. For poem reading, I don't do poem reading. I can refer you to someone who specializes in it. Thank you
If your child needs guidance on homework, contact me if needed. 
 This class is not curriculum-based. It's simply to practice reading through materials.

I am a native Chinese, certified teacher, studied English as my second language. I specialize in teaching students who are beginning to learn mandarin. I have 10 years of teaching experience. 8 years in the school setting and 2 years in an online setting. I have a BA in Child and Adolescent Development with a minor in Music as well as a Montessori credential. 

My values or philosophy behind my teaching: my focus is on the “whole child,” which means that my lesson plans will focus on stimulating the child physically, cognitively, socially, and emotionally. As an educator, my lessons will have many interesting subjects that will keep the children engaged. I prefer the use of guidebooks, hands-on tools, and activities to help me teach Mandarin/English in a fun and productive way.

Passion: my passion has always been learning. In my spare time, I love playing the guitar, collecting children’s books, and making use of the time to learn, plan lessons, and take classes. I think learning is exciting and I want to make learning fun for the children as well.
