Paul Morphy's famous Opera House Game is one of the most useful historical games for chess players to study. All 17 moves are logical, energetic, and filled with strategic & tactical ideas. In this class we study five possible variations and the original game, exploring the purpose of every move. Each lesson slowly builds in complexity preparing students for a deep understanding of the complete and original game. All six lesson feature a short (3-5 min) video paired with a detailed interactive study where students can actually move the pieces on the board, getting feedback and hints for every correct and incorrect move. This class focuses only on the strategy and tactics of the moves and does not include historical details about the game, Paul Morphy, or chess in general. I am always available to answer questions and provide feedback.

When school went remote in March of 2020 my chess club (where I taught full time) thrived. This led to curriculum development, program development, and coaching work at the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth, SciGenius, BudBe, Zinkers, and the Chicago Chess Foundation. Before that I taught for three years at the Berkeley Chess School.
Chess is on the cutting edge of a shift toward globally connected, self directed, and play oriented education. I am thrilled to be part of it. As a self taught player currently rated over 2000 I have become an expert in using the most advanced learning tools available to bring lessons to life. I love helping young people discover and excel at this beautiful game.
