このクラスで学べること
Thinking of choosing a bird as your next pet? There's a lot you need to know to be a great bird parent. This class will cover essential topics and answer questions such as: What do I feed my bird? What kind of cage and toys do I need to get? How do I keep my bird safe? How do I bond with my pet bird? Can I teach my bird to talk or do tricks? What does it cost to have a pet bird? Can I go on vacation and leave my bird? Can my bird travel with me? I've been a bird owner since 2015 and have taken care of three different species of birds. This class will focus more directly on budgies (parakeets) and cockatiels, but much of what is covered will apply to most pet birds. Anyone thinking of getting a bird will better understand if birds are the right pets for them and will be prepared with the essentials of caring for a happy, healthy bird. The class will consist of a lecture with the teacher's personal stories and an informational slideshow, with time for questions and discussion at the end. No prior experience is necessary to attend.

Students will learn to feed their bird the most nutritious food, choose the right kind of cage and toys, clean and care for their bird's hygiene, avoid safety hazards, and other skills necessary to have a successful relationship with one of these beautiful, intelligent, feathered friends.

I am passionate about writing, good communication, and helping people learn. English was my best and favorite subject in school, but it wasn't until college that I really began to fall crazy in love with the language arts. Words of authors came alive to me as they helped me discover the world through the beauty and tragedy of the human experience.
Before I received my state teaching certification, I spent four years training and mentoring college students at an international youth organization on business concepts, leadership effectiveness, communication, and time management. I have taught language arts in Washington public schools to 12th, 7th, and 8th graders, and have been a substitute teacher for students in all subjects for the past six years.
I teach many genres of writing - essay writing, research, and literary analysis. I can help students edit and proofread, develop ideas, and improve the overall quality of their writing while helping them improve their ability to use language effectively.
