In this intermediate calligraphy course students will be taught how to develop their own calligraphy style. We use a traditional calligraphy pen and build upon the skills learned in my beginner course, 'Pointed Pen Calligraphy for Beginners'. Students will learn how to develop their own calligraphy style by exploring the different elements that make each style different from the next.

We will cover the following topics:
-Basic vocabulary for calligraphers
-Explore elements that makes each calligraphy style different
-How to create even slant and spacing
-Explore a wide range of letter forms

Week 1- Week one we will dive right into practicing the different elements of today’s most popular lettering styles. We will also start out the course by reviewing the anatomy of letters and vocabulary for calligraphers. If you have not taken my beginner course I recommend your student enrolls in that class first. These topics are covered in-depth in 'Pointed Pen Calligraphy for Beginners'.

Week 2- Week two we will continue learning the elements and techniques that make each lettering style different from the next! There are a wide range of calligraphy styles and we will touch on all the most popular styles.

Week 3- Week three students will learn different letter forms. Students will then choose their favorite elements and letter forms to create their own calligraphy style. In our last class session students will be given the chance to use the style they have developed throughout the course! Students will have the opportunity (if they so choose) to share with each other why they chose the style they did.

This is an interactive hands-on course. I will demonstrate each practice drill. Students will be able to watch me complete each exercise and will be given time in class to practice themselves. Students will be provided with worksheets to follow along. We will also have discussion times. Together as a class we will learn to develop individual lettering styles.
