Want to see what the world is made of? This class will help you understand how the entire universe is able to exist by using only 118 ingredients (elements). We explore what atoms are, what they look like, and how they join together to create new substances. Learners are encouraged to listen as I explain, ask questions, and create drawings to understand what our world looks like at the atomic level. - Learners will understand the difference between atoms and molecules, and will understand how atoms join together to form molecules of new substances.
I specialize in finding fun twists to standard curriculum to help my students build critical thinking skills as well as scientific knowledge. By adding a new twist to a familiar topic we can expand our thinking to include new possibilities. I have taught science to homeschool students for the last 18 years, and during that time I have developed many teaching techniques and hands-on projects to help students explore concepts in new and exciting ways.
I have extensive experience working with learners with unique needs, including ADHD, ASD, Gifted and Talented, and 2E learners. Modifications available upon request.
Learners will need paper, pencil, and colors for each lesson.
