All children begin their artistic journey with joy in the creative process. But somewhere around age 7 or 8 many have their self-confidence shaken, perhaps by an unkind comment from a classmate or by comparing themselves unfavourably with others with more "talent". This is often the pivotal point where children begin to think of themselves as "bad at art". 
I am passionate about helping these children regain their creative confidence and enjoy making art again. Through simple exercises that build understanding each session, they will learn tips for drawing from observation, how to add shading, and how to create texture using mark making. 
The lesson will start with a friendly chat to establish the student's confidence level and what they would like to achieve. Then I will demonstrate a technique and guide them as they practise giving encouraging feedback. Students will learn that the creative process is ongoing and every time they practise, they are helping themselves improve. Over the course of four weeks, students will grow in confidence and overcome barriers that have prevented them enjoying the creative process.
At the end of the 4 sessions, there is the option to continue with another block of classes to continue to build on the progress made.
