I am a certified Instrumental Music teacher with over 10 years of experience teaching, performing, and writing music. In this class, students will learn how to play, sing, and sign their way around the C Major scale. No instrument? No problem! You’ll want to change the settings to the Boomwhacker colours and Solfege labels to seamlessly join in on the fun! CHROMA-NOTES 8-note C Major Diatonic Desk Bell Set (https://rhythmband.com/products/chromanotes-8-note-diatonic-deskbell-set) is highly recommended for this class, but students don't need musical background to join and enjoy! Orff instruments, such as glockenspiels or xylophones that are in the key of C will also work well for this class. They'll learn about rhythm, melody, and harmony by playing listening games, learning familiar songs, improvising during class jams, and composing their own music! Solfege singing will help students understand the concept of a moveable "Do" and Kodaly hand signs will keep learners moving and engaged. You’ll also need to adjust these settings in the Zoom app by clicking on the arrowhead next to the mute/unmute button and clicking on "Audio Settings":
1. Uncheck “Automatically adjust microphone volume”
2. Set the input volume to 100%
3. Select the first Audio Profile: Zoom background noise removal / Zoom optimized audio
4. Select "Low"
Finally, if you are using the online xylophone from www.playxylo.com, you'll need to click on the "View Options" button in the top right corner and select the following:

Labels: Moveable Solfege
Scale: We'll start each session with C7△ (Default) and then change it half way through to C5 (Pentatonic) for improvising and composing.

I’m Mr. John.
I am a teacher who has worked professionally for 10+ years. With experience from Kindergarten up to Grade 8 in the classroom and online, I am also a Kindergarten Specialist with additional qualifications in Special Education, Music, and Mathematics!
I teach a Kindergarten Sing-Along Circle Time, a Minecraft Coding & Creative Class, and a Minecraft Survival class for groups. I also tutor Accelerated English Programs for Early Literacy, Accelerated Mathematics Programs for Elementary and Secondary School Learners, Coding, Minecraft Education, GarageBand and more for 1-1 meetings.
My love of learning in my own life drives my passion for teaching. All learners are welcome! I encourage ESL, neurodiverse, and any other learners who think they may benefit from my programs to try them out!
