Without strong communication skills, even the brightest students may face challenges in school. This class addresses this gap by providing a supportive environment where students can develop the essential communication skills they need to succeed academically and socially. With the guidance of a communication professor who understands what students need to thrive, this course will help your child feel more confident in discussions, group projects, and presentations. Course Overview 📈 Throughout this course, students will learn how to organize their thoughts, clearly express ideas, actively listen, and navigate classroom dynamics like discussions and conflict resolution. Each week, students will focus on a specific communication skill, with interactive lessons, group discussions, role-playing, and hands-on activities. They will receive personalized feedback and practice their skills in a supportive space. Homework may involve skill-building exercises to prepare for the next session. How Is the Class Structured? 📚 Each weekly session kicks off with a warm-up activity to get students comfortable and encourage participation. Students will then engage in interactive lessons that incorporate role-playing, group work, and games to develop their skills in a fun and practical way. Quick, fun impromptu speaking games where students are given random topics to talk about for 30 seconds to a minute.
