このクラスで学べること
Get ready for a spooktacular time in this fun and engaging Halloween-themed class! Each week, we'll read a different Halloween picture book filled with delightful characters like friendly pumpkins, silly monsters, and magical creatures. After the story, we’ll create a simple, themed craft to bring the tale to life using materials you already have at home! This class is perfect for young learners who love Halloween, enjoy crafting, and are excited to get creative while listening to fun stories. The combination of storytelling and hands-on art will ignite their imaginations and build their fine motor skills. Class Structure: Storytime: We’ll start each session with an interactive read-aloud of a Halloween-themed picture book. Craft Time: After the story, we’ll dive into a fun and easy craft activity based on the book’s theme. From making paper pumpkins to creating puppets, each craft will allow students to express their creativity and extend the story in a hands-on way. Show & Tell: At the end of class, students will have the opportunity to share their creations and chat about their favorite parts of the story. What to Expect: A new book and craft each week! Crafts using simple, at-home materials such as paper, glue, crayons, and scissors. An engaging and welcoming environment where students can socialize, share, and explore their creativity. Weekly Themes and Tentative Books: October 2: PUMPKINS---The Legend of Spookley the Square Pumpkin by Joe Troiano October 9: BATS-- Bo the Bat by Alma Hammond October 16: WITCHES OR MONSTERS-- Room on the Broom by Julia Donaldson OR Monsters Love Underpants by Claire Freedman October 23: MONSTERS PT.2-- Even Monsters Need Haircuts by Matthew McElligott October 30: HALLOWEEN ON THE FARM- Click, Clack, Boo by Doreen Cronin Hope to see your little learners for some Halloween fun!

Children will also be asked to use scissors in this class.

Hi everyone! My name is Ms. Norma and I am a former kindergarten teacher turned homeschooling mother. I live in Maryland with my husband and two boys, aged 7 and 10. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development and a Master of Arts in Teaching Early Childhood Education from Howard University. I spent five years in the classroom, teaching kindergarten and one year in second grade. I may no longer be in a physical classroom but I have never lost my passion for teaching and learning.
I will be offering ongoing classes for learners ages 4-11 who are looking to find a place to meet others, build connection and engage in authentic, theme based learning.
It is my belief that children learn best when they feel safe, acknowledged and cared for. I feel one of my biggest strengths as an educator is my ability to build connections with the children and parents I am fortunate to work with. I look forward to working with your child to support them at the beginning of their academic journey.
