"A Wrinkle in Time" Novel Study and Writing Class is a four week course focusing on an age appropriate outline of comprehensions skills, vocabulary, fluency and writing. This class is a live class with a teacher that is interactive. The course is full of discussions which challenge thinkers to analyze, form own opinions on topics, and express them aloud among their peer group. This class also breaks down and studies the literary components of the novel, learning more about theme, authors purpose, characters growth and much more. Students will further learn expository writing skills and continue to improve their style and structure throughout the course. * The Format of The Course is Styled in Flipped Learning Environment, which is a simple method of assignment and instruction. The students will generally be assigned to watch a short presentation, read a chapter, and then at the meeting, they will review that assignment. Following the review, new skills will be introduced and taught. In between classes, they will complete a new task and reading assignment. *Students will recieve a syllabus at the begginning of the course. This will outline each of the 4 weeks for them. While we meet 2 days a week, students will be given assignments in between to complete before meeting again. Therefore, Each week has 4 days of assignments. SAMPLE WEEK OUTLINE * Day 1:HOMEWORK: Students work on Assigned Task and Reading * Day 2: Students meet to Review Assigned Task and Start a New Skill and Task. * Day 3: HOMEWORK: Students Complete Assigned Task 3 and Reading * Day 4: Students Review Assigned Task and Start New Skill and Task. STUDENTS WILL PARTICIPATE In each class sessions students will be given the opportunity to participate in a teacher lead discussion with their peers. Reading does take place in the class, as well as outside the virtual classroom. We do spend time purposefully interacting and playing games such as Kahoot to reinforce skills learned. We also offer interactive online integrated lessons for learning. Writing lessons are part of this course and use some iew strategies. This is a Short Course, Reading is somewhat accelerated. However the environment for learning is burst of short chucked information so that the students are able to dive in and learn but also gain an understanding of skills and processes that they are learning. 😃 Class Day 1 and 3 presentations should give students the boost they need to get started in their new Skill or Task and get them ready to read the Assigned Reading. Smile 😊 Class Day 2 and 4 give students the opportunity to interact with their peers as well as learn through discussions, games, and group sharing. 🌟 This course is a novel study and a writing course. While I do my best to meet the needs and objectives in the course, my hope is that students fall in love with reading and writing. I realize that not all students will, but perhaps this can serve as a refreshing and interactive novel study so it peaks their interest to return again. 🤩 So Let's Get Ready For the Outline Follow to the syllabus OTHER CLASSES: I offer other middle school classes in novel studies, literature, and soon to come IEW Writing. Students should have a printed or digital copy of a Wrinkle in Time. They could also add an audio copy of the book if they like. There are free versions online. Also I will add short printable packets each week to the class.

Students will need a copy ( written or digital) for the novel study " A Wrinkle in Time" students may also choose to have an audio version available as well. You can sometimes find audioversions free on YouTube and other places online.

WHO AM I:
As a teacher I believe that we should provide students with the skills and opportunity to learn and grow. I think that students are more apt to care what you know, when they know that you care and I hope that I live that philosophy out in my classroom. I am excited about teaching and passionate to guide students learning.
Personally, I absolutely love reading. There is a book by Dr Suess that really does so much more than entertain. It is called " Oh, the Places You Will Go." This book truely sets people of all ages up for success! While there are many quotes I could pull from this fabulous writing, my favorite is “You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose.” - This quote emphasizes the idea of self-direction and the ability to choose your own path. I hope my guidance leads others to develop the confidence to choose the right path for them.

I teach English Language Arts Classes to Elementary and Middle School Students. I teach reading, writing, grammar, spelling, novel studies, literature, and much more. MY QUALIFICATIONS:
I have a BS and an AS in Education. I have taught for many years in numerous settings. I started in the traditional classroom setting. I have homeschooled my own children. A few years ago, I started teaching at district level in my ( Southern) area of the United States. ( You'll know when I speak WINK). I, now, look forward to teaching on outschool.
