⚜️ Welcome to the Book Dragons' Lair! ⚜️

📚 Each month we will focus on one teen or YA book, and have a wide variety of activities to enjoy the monthly reading. This class is ideal for your learner who loves to read or is beginning to enjoy reading, but needs a bit more time to go through a book. This is also for learners who want to take their time reading, and find likeminded book dragons (not worms!) to discuss their favorite books.

📚 We will not be reading aloud during class time, but learners are free to share their favorite parts or quotes.

Have a book you want to read? Let me know! I am open to adding a book to the schedule.

While we will not discuss topics not allowed by Outschool, please keep in mind that this class is designed for TEENS, so some discussions might be more serious than in a typical book club for younger learners.

Schedule is subject to change. While this is a structured club, I am open to learner book suggestions and am open to changing the FOLLOWING month's book. Once the month has begun and learners are enrolled with the book, we will not change the CURRENT month's book.

学習到達目標

Learners will read one book per month and meet once a week to discuss the book.
We will go over any unfamiliar vocabulary or concepts.

学習ニーズ
Please let me know if your learner has any unique learning needs. I am more than happy to accommodate.
保護者へのお知らせ
While we will be keeping discussions appropriate to the Outschool classroom, please be aware that some topics might be fairly heavy for younger learners as this book club will be focusing primarily on teen and YA books. I highly recommend referring to Common Sense Media, if you would like a breakdown on the elements found in the book-of-the-month. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any doubts or questions regarding the club.
受講の前提条件
This is a book club for teens. As such, there may be discussions on weightier topics than a book club for younger learners. We will not discuss topics not permitted by the Outschool platform, but parent discretion advised.
受講に必要なもの
Learner will need their own copy of the book of the month. That may be in digital or print format. I will not provide copies of the books.

I have worked with ESL learners (young learners, teens and up) reading and analyzing modern as well as classical literature since 2015.

I have had experience in private institution group and private classes:
* selecting age appropriate content
* explaining vocabulary
* analyzing characters
* analyzing themes
* reading comprehension activities

Prior to Outschool I worked with VIPKid as well as several other language institutions and received rigorous training regarding childhood development and learner abilities (cognitive as well as physical).
