Optional writing assignments between classes will be posted and students will receive detailed feedback upon submission.Students will engage in discussions, share their ideas, and respect different viewpoints. Restart by Gordon Korman Chase Ambrose, the most feared bully in his middle school, falls off a roof and loses his memory. When he wakes up, he doesn’t remember who he is—or the terrible things he’s done. As he pieces his life back together, Chase gets a second chance to redefine himself. But not everyone is ready to forgive him. Some classmates welcome the change, while others don’t trust him at all. As Chase navigates friendships, school, and his past mistakes, he must decide who he really wants to be. Can he truly restart his life, or will his past define him forever? The Wednesday Wars by Gary D. Schmidt Holling Hoodhood, a seventh grader in 1967, is convinced his teacher, Mrs. Baker, hates him. Every Wednesday, while his classmates leave for religious instruction, Holling stays behind, forced to read Shakespeare. At first, he resents it, but as the weeks go by, he discovers unexpected lessons in the bard’s works. Meanwhile, he deals with a demanding father, a sister who dreams of escaping, and the challenges of growing up during the Vietnam War. Through humor and heartfelt moments, Holling learns about courage, kindness, and finding his own voice.
