Do you have a Young Adult that is in love all things magical? Do they live for magical creatures of all kinds, and enjoys interacting and socializing with other book lovers? Then this is the class for them! We will be reading well beloved books such as, "A Wrinkle in Time," "Harry Potter," and so many more of the most popular young adult Fantasy novels from the past few decades. All of the books we will read are the first book in a series of fantasy books. I love that this class will leave students with a long list of wonderful additional novels they may want to read in the future (after class ends). Students will get a taste of each series, to see which ones they fall in love with for later reading! The class will meet once every two weeks to give students adequate time to read. Learners will read the novels at home, and come ready to have lively, guided, group discussions with their peers once every other week. Students will have two weeks at home to read each book, so that they will have enough to time to read at home between classes. You will only be charged for the weeks that we meet (so every other week). This is an ongoing class that spans multiple months in which students can join or leave at any time. Ongoing classes are amazing for book clubs because they allow students the time to really get to know their peers which aids in rich discussion and interaction during class. Students will read the listed Young Adult Fantasy novel at home and come to class prepared for discussions and activities related to the assigned reading for that class. To find the correct schedule, scroll down below to the section that meets on your learner's day and time. If your learner is the first one to enroll in any particular section, it may take 24hrs after you enroll them for their schedule to show up. Hello! My name is Teacher Donna and I am so excited to meet you! I have a Bachelor's Degree in Education with a concentration in English, an active teaching certificate, and am currently in the process of completing my Master's Degree as a Reading Specialist. I teach here on Outschool, teach English Language Learners on another online teaching platform, and stay home with my own four young kiddos. My kids (ages 13, 10, 8, and 6) keep me on my toes and help me to come up with new and fun lessons to bring into the classroom for your own little learners. I love teaching children of all ages, and am looking forward to becoming your child's Teacher. My teaching philosophy is that, "We are Lifelong Learners!" I want to foster a love of learning in my classroom through engaging, fun, and creative lessons. I hope to see you in my classroom very soon!
