The Star Wars universe offers us the wonderful opportunity to experience a vast myriad of extraordinary planets and technologies as we follow our heroes through the Galaxy. Each new movie helps build a sense of wonder and makes the galaxy truly feel larger then life! But the really amazing thing is that every location in Star Wars and every cool gadget is inspired by real world places, people and technologies. 

Together we will travel across our own planet and learn about the amazing inspirations that are used in some of our favorite Star Wars movies. We will talk about the geography and geology of different film locations and why it makes Earth one of the most special places in the universe! We will explore the different cultural influences that contribute to the various species, governments and of course the Force. And we will take a dive into some of the most amazing technological features of Star Wars: Lightsabers, spaceships, and lasers and discover their real world applications. With every class we will discuss the unique geological, cultural or scientific features that inspired these things and explore how the writers and filmmakers were able to create such an amazing universe for us all to enjoy!

Our adventures will take us across a galaxy far, far away and we rotate through serval topics such as:
-Planets and Biomes
-Heroes and Villains
-Star Wars Sagas
-Star Wars Technology
-Art and Cinema
-Games & Quizzes 

*Note: Our flight plan my change based on student interest! The goal is to help students discover a variety of different topics features, but not to overwhelm them with too much information. 

The class will consist of a slide presentation combined with watching different clips that show off the movies, technologies and places (nothing with excessive action or flashing lights). We also may encounter some puzzles, challenges and problem solving activities during our trip across the Galaxy!
