-Mini lecture introducing the day’s concepts (20 min) -Class discussion (10 min) -Drills to develop skills (30 min) -Listening to music together and homework (15 min) Drills will include students working together to develop skills within class through outside homework. Students will learn through participation in weekly class and also outside during personal practice time. Topics: -Basic music notation (written and aural) -Identifying types of Scales (written and aural) -Understanding & performing simple and compound rhythms -Creating and identifying triads, chords, and seventh chords (written and aural) -Basic formal analysis of music -Solfege -Listening to music together and interpreting it -Writing our own music
