In this one time course, your child will learn an essential reading skill to aide in reading comprehension. We will discuss "Asking Questions" and practice the skill during the class. Students will learn what it means to ask thoughtful questions about the text, the different question starter words/phrases, and why asking meaningful questions is important to reading comprehension. We will have several opportunities in the class to practice asking questions and students will be given the opportunity to share their questions in class. 

I will use a PowerPoint presentation to teach the material. I include pictures, stories, and interactive activities to develop the concept. I use both direct teaching as well as student led. My presentation includes direct instruction to present the content as well as fun activities to engage the students. Students will participate in discussion throughout the lesson in order for me to gauge their understanding and help develop it more. No previous knowledge on the topic of Asking Questions is required. 

I have taught in elementary school for 15 years and I am certified in Pre-K through 5th grade. I am very experienced and am prepared to help your child improve their reading comprehension skills!
