Class Experience This class is part of my Contemporary Artist Series, in which we learn about artists from the mid-20th century to today, analyze their art style and subject, and make a creation inspired by their art. Day 1: We will study who Laurel Burch was, her contribution to art, and her art style, and begin using the elements of art to practice drawing a cat inspired by her work. Week 1Lesson 1Introduction to Laurel BurchWe will study who Laurel Burch was, her contribution to art, and her art style, and begin using the elements of art to practice drawing a cat inspired by her work. Students can do a google image search of her art as well as look at her website and galleries that feature her art, to help them with ideas for their own art. We will practice drawing a horse and begin to explore patterns that can be drawn on it.Lesson 2Finishing the ArtWe will review Burch's art style, and draw a patterned horse based on her style. We will outline with a Sharpie (or metallic paint marker!) and color with crayons, colored pencils, or markers.
