*This class does NOT meet for live meetings. This is a Flexible schedule class only. In this semester-long, 10-week, Art Flex course, we will work on various art mediums and techniques. This course will fulfill the art elective needed, and by the end of the 10 weeks, students will leave with a completed course certificate. During our time together, students will be more confident in creating art and informed about different techniques, definitions, theories, and artists. I will explain the week's project with visual and verbal direction. I will use a second camera pointed towards the example project to explain what and how we are proceeding with that project. I encourage questions at any time during the week. Once I have described the assignment for that week, I will discuss the weekly artist (historical and/or contemporary) that coincides with techniques and/or mediums that will be used. This will help to create a more well-rounded experience and curriculum for each student. There may be some weeks without an artist. Once the video is out with that week's instruction, students will be able to work at their own pace and send in a photograph/video and short synopses of their work, how they feel it went, any questions, and what they liked/ did not like about it. There will be no grading system, art is very subjective, but I do encourage critical thinking and practice constructive criticism from myself and other students. This being said, bullying or disrespect is an absolute no-no in my classroom. Students are expected to act maturely, kindly, and encouraging with themselves and their classmates.

レッスン 1:
Principles/Elements of Art
We will begin our unit by discussing art's principles and elements. We will also become familiar with our graphite pencils and tools through a couple of exercises. This will prepare us for our first big project.

Graphite Grid Drawing 1 of 2
We will choose a b & w photo as our reference for this drawing and recreate it using a grid and our drawing tools.
We will also discuss the work of Paul Lung and DeigoKoi

Graphite Grid Drawing 2 of 2
We will continue working on our grid drawings.
レッスン 4:
Intro to charcoal
We will better understand charcoal by working with a few exercises. Some are familiar, others are not. This will prepare us for our next big project.
We will also discuss the work of Heather Hanson.

Week-by-week breakdown: Week 1: -Graphite Pencils -Drawing paper (9x12) -Erasure -Blending tools (look like rolled-up white paper pencils)- You can also use a simple Q-Tip -Printed out handout OR access to handout on computer Week 2/3: -Ruler -Graphite Pencils -Drawing Paper (9x12) -Blending Tool/Qtip -Erasure -Drawing Paper -Scissors -Small magazine clipping of black and white picture (we will talk more about this) Week 4: -Compressed black charcoal sticks -Drawing Paper -Blending Tool/Qtip -Apron and table covering (this is a messy medium) Week 5/6: -11x14 Drawing paper -Compressed black charcoal sticks -Blending tool/Qtip -Black and white magazine/newspaper picture- cut out -Glue Stick -Apron and table covering (another messy project) Week 7: -Watercolor paint (in the tubes)-Red, Yellow, Blue -Rounded brush -Watercolor paper (9x12) -Jar of water -Paint Palette -Pencil -Ruler -Handout Week 8/9: -Watercolor Paper (9x12) -Watercolor paint (red, yellow, blue) -Jar of water -Palette -Brushes of varying sizes Week 10: -Watercolor paper (9x12) -Watercolor paint (black, grey, white) -Jar of water -Palette -Brushes of varying sizes -Scissors
