I bring both a deep love for animals and years of experience working with children in educational settings. My passion for this subject comes from a combination of personal experience, volunteer work, academic research, and teaching.
I’m currently a PhD student, and my dissertation focuses on the relationship between children and animals and how it influences emotional and social development. My research explores the many benefits that animals can have on children’s empathy, confidence, and mental well-being. This work directly informs how I design and teach classes like this one—making sure they are not only engaging, but also developmentally meaningful.
In addition to my academic background, I’ve volunteered with local animal shelters and therapy animal programs, assisting with training, outreach, and educational events. These hands-on experiences gave me the opportunity to work closely with animal care professionals and witness the powerful bond between humans and animals in real-life settings.
I also have over 8 years of experience working with children in both classroom and enrichment settings.
Whether I’m sharing real-life animal hero stories, guiding thoughtful discussions, or leading hands-on activities, I’m committed to helping kids build empathy and discover the many ways they can make a positive difference—for animals and for each other.
