This is part 2 of a 2 part course, each part consisting of 15 weeks. You must have completed part 1 of this course or have prior IEW experience through Unit 5 to take this course. This edition of Ancient History-Based Writing Lessons offers writing topics that explore the civilizations of Sumer, Egypt, Israel, Babylon, Greece, Rome, Asia Minor, and Asia—the people’s ideas, traditions, systems of government, feats, and wonderful skills. IEW’s structural units 1–9 are taught in order; elements of style are introduced gradually. A set of creatively illustrated vocabulary cards is included with the text and words will be reviewed each week in class. The words, chosen to work easily in the writing assignments, expand students’ vocabularies and add sophistication to their compositions. Acquiring facts about the ancient world while learning to write well has never been so enjoyable! The following textbook will need to purchased for this course https://iew.com/shop/products/ancient-history-based-writing-lessons-student-book-only Each week will review the lesson material, discuss and outline in class (when appropriate), homework will be assigned, which generally consists of the writing assignment. There are vocabulary drills in each class, and vocabulary quizzes. All assignments will be turned in via Google Classroom, reviewed and scored according to the checklists for each lesson. Bonus 'advanced' lessons will also be an option for those who would like get extra practice.
