犬について：サマーキャンプ

Do you love dogs? Do you already know a lot about these amazing creatures? Did you know, there's even more to learn? 

In this fun class, we will cover many new topics about dogs that will allow you to build upon the knowledge you already have or desire to have about our 4-legged friends: DOGS! 

As a lifelong dog owner and parent of a child that has completed various dog training courses (like canine good citizen training) I have learned a lot over the years. In addition, as a homeschooling parent, I have adapted curriculum that teaches about dogs, their characteristics, communication, training, anatomy and so much more. 

Below, you will find an outline of what this class covers, as well as subtopics that will be visited during this 8 class course.
Note: during the summer session, this class takes place 2x/week for 8 weeks (a total of 16 classes). Please send me a note with any questions you may have! 
 
Class 1 -  The history of dogs
             - Characteristics: what make a dog a dog?
 
Class 2 - Dog breeds
             - Dog conformation (show dog characteristics)

Class 3 - Dog grooming
             - Dog selection

Class 4 - Dog communication and behavior
             - Puppy care & socialization

Class 5 - Beginner dog training
             - Dog obedience
 
Class 6 - Dog performance and showmanship
             - Working dogs
 
Class 7 - Dog anatomy and physiology
             - Dog health + nutrition and exercise
               Introduction of individual projects
 
Class 8 - Rescue Animals
             - Shelter, Senior, Overpopulation...


All of these topics will be teacher led with the use of google slides in order for students to hear information and also see it visually through words, pictures and examples. 

Students will be encouraged to participate in conversation, discussions and offer personal experiences and thoughts to the class. 

My goal in teaching is to help students learn by storytelling and involvement, not lecture. I want everyone to share, gather information and take away a wealth of knowledge that is new and exciting to them. Learning will be fun and exciting in this course!
